Not sure whether you should buy or rent a coffee machine for your hotel? In this guide, we share our knowledge about renting and maintaining professional coffee machines to make your decision easier!
Which coffee machine should I choose for a hotel?
In hotels, coffee machines are used in three places: during breakfast, during conferences (during breaks) and in the main bar (e.g., the bar of a hotel restaurant). Coffee breaks are a crucial time when important decisions are made and partnerships are formed, so high-quality and quickly prepared coffee is more than important.
Granule coffee machines
Both breakfast and conference breaks are quite short, so the speed of coffee preparation is one of the main factors when choosing a coffee machine. Therefore, granulated coffee machines are the most suitable, as they prepare coffee quickly and are extremely easy to maintain. You will not have to think about constantly cleaning the coffee machine or using many products - just set the automatic rinsing function when you leave home for the night.
Bean-to-cup coffee machines
You can also choose a bean-to-cup coffee machine, but you will need more of these machines than granulated ones, about 2-3, because they prepare coffee more slowly than granulated coffee machines. In addition, these machines are more difficult to maintain - you will have to constantly clean the grounds and refill the products. This type of coffee machine also has more mechanical components, so it is likely that they will jam and break down more often.
Semi-automatic coffee machines
Semi-automatic coffee machines are rarely found in the main bar. However, these coffee machines are very suitable for serving hotel guests at night, as coffee is made with the touch of a button.
What about coffee thermoses?
Some hotels use coffee thermoses for breakfast and conferences. At first glance, this seems like a logical and cheaper alternative, however, the freedom of choice for hotel guests is limited (no cappuccino, latte, and other favorite coffees). The quality of the coffee drink is also questionable, as it cannot ensure accurate dosage and optimal water temperature.
How many coffee machines will you need?
We recommend that you decide how many coffee machines you will need based on the average number of guests in your hotel. Try to predict the number of coffee drinks you will need in cups (don’t forget the seasonality factor) and calculate how many coffee machines you will need based on this. For example, if the hotel has about 100 guests for breakfast, the Alegria 8/60 or Milano 8/60 granulated coffee machines will best ensure high-quality service for such a flow. The latter machine will make an espresso in 9 seconds, a cappuccino in 22 seconds, and a latte in 36 seconds.
What should be the choice of coffees?
Most hotel guests drink black coffee and coffee with milk, but having a wider selection of drinks will show that you are taking into account people who like different drinks. We advise you to take care of other favorite types of coffee such as espresso, cappuccino, latte, and other drinks (hot chocolate, tea) to take care of your guests as best as possible.
You can send feedback and rating forms to your visitors to find out what kind of coffee drinks they expect when visiting you. However, we advise you to discuss this issue with visitors and guests during a live chat - this way you will establish a closer connection and receive more accurate, honest information. Also, do not forget about the help of professionals. NestleProfessional.lt offers the opportunity to edit drink recipes, we can also advise remotely (by phone).
So, should you buy or rent a coffee machine?
We recommend renting a professional coffee machine. Why? Because it's easier. After purchasing a coffee machine, all the worries fall on the owner of the machine: equipment costs, service costs, additional search for a coffee supplier, employee training, etc. By concluding a cooperation agreement and renting a coffee machine from a coffee supplier (in this case NestleProfessional.lt), a full service package is offered. All you have to do is use it! Commercial terms are agreed with each client separately.
Main criteria when renting a coffee machine
Here are the main aspects that are most often taken into account when choosing a coffee machine rental for a hotel.
- The ease of use of the coffee machine: the complexity of maintenance (cleaning and refilling), the speed of operation and the quality of the products.
- Service package: service, employee training, additional tools for the hotel channel.
- Flexibility of the cooperation agreement.
What problems are most often encountered?
Since the maintenance of granulated coffee machines is extremely simple, their maintenance is sometimes completely forgotten (especially when there is a change of employee). In order to avoid this, the NestleProfessional.lt team plans more frequent service visits. We also carry out more frequent mandatory maintenance. During the visit, we remind you about the mandatory hygiene maintenance of the machines, and we additionally train new employees.
